Dogtooth

Three children, two sisters and a brother, grow up believing that the boundaries of their luxury residence are the boundaries of the real world. The whole action takes place within the narrow limits of their villa where they live with their parents and the fences that surrounds it. The father is the family leader, he decides and forms all the rules that everybody has to follow including his wife and himself. The villa is actually a prison that was build by the parents to protect their children from what they think will destroy their children’s life- real world! This is their goal…none of the children should understand that over the fence, there is another, different, free life. And they succeed!
The film is highly allegorical. Nothing is what it seems to be, words loose their real meaning. Music, history, nature, technology, sex and love, everything is different in that microcosm. The children don’t know what’s outside, they are afraid of the outside world. If they disobey the rules the punishment that follows is heavy…even death….
And all you need to manipulate someone so that growing up will believe in a different reality is a lie… A lie made up by the father and with the help of the mom, that has an incredible ability of persuasion every freedom is lost, the ability of thinking is lost. You just obey. And as I said all you need is a lie and money…..

I know I know…।! The star movie of this year’s festival is Robin Hood and yes I only write about films I have already watched but the truth is that I heard so much about this movie and so many critics love to hate it that I had to find out what the hell is it about।
The film is competing for the Palme d'Or at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival. It premiered at Cannes on May 17 2010. It’s directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (21 Grams and Babel films that I like by the way)
It’s the story of Uxbal (Javier Bardem), a depressed single dad, a man involved in illegal activity who is confronted by an old childhood friend, who is now a police officer. Contains enough narrative ingredients for at least half a dozen derivative stories including cancer, divorce, mourning, fatherhood, illegal business, accidental death, and supernatural gifts! Uxbal, sensing the danger of death, tries to reconcile with love and save his children, as he tries to save himself.
“Is this real?” The question lingers in each scene that follows as the critics say…
As I many others were intrigued, so Biutiful, filled the huge hall of Grand Théâtre Lumière with reporters eager to sink their teeth in the history of this poor father of two children.
I will sure watch the film just to find out what Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu created this time and why this character had to suffer so much. Will I sympathize him? Will I hate him? We’ll see…

500 Days of Summer

All of the good stuff that you are going to hear about this movie is true. Any bad stuff you hear is not.
The film opens by announcing it will not be a typical love story and it is a rare movie that begins by telling us how it will end. This is in fact what makes you wonder WHAT? WHY? What went so wrong?
500 Days of Summer is a well written, fresh and modern film.
He is Tom, a greeting card writer with a profound faith in love. She is Summer, an independent, vision of a woman who thinks love is as fictional as Santa Claus. The story moves backwards and forwards through time and uses a day counter to help us keep track of where we are witch in my opinion makes it more exciting. And I shouldn’t forget the music! The music is in my opinion one of the factors that makes this film even better. I sure bought the soundtrack witch reminded me the Juno soundtrack. (Also one of my fav). The end leaves you with a bitter sweet taste but also some positive thoughts about your self and life in general.
This film is not this weeks release and I don’t know why I watched it so late but I’m glad I finally did, especially because I am facing some kind of emotional trouble right now and it really gave me some unexpected answers. 500 Days of Summer is the best romantic comedy since I don’t know when…..There, I said it…..( and no I’m not a woman! )

The movie is Nominated for 2 Golden Globes

A day before the beginning of his new job in high security prison, a young guard will attempt a visit to the institution, to meet his new workplace. Unfortunately for him, it’s the same day that prisoners will select to hold strong insurgency, and not only that but he will be completely alone and helpless among them. It's just what they say, was in the wrong place wrong time. Nothing could prepare the unfortunate Joan Oliver, for the suffering he would pass when he left his house saying goodbye to an interesting woman, just to go to his new job. A moment of misfortune, a hesitation of his colleagues, a blackout that lasted only a few minutes and the representative of law will be found covered in blood, among criminals, murderers and rapists. The reaction of sense and straightforward: he decided to pretend that he’s one of them and that he was just been transferred to the prison that’s why nobody knows him.
The poor man! If he only knew what followed this stupid decision, probably he would have shown his id to the hungry for blood and revenge criminals।

Apart from the dramatic extension of the whole situation, the film does not depart the line all the similar style creations follow. The atmosphere is claustrophobic and dark, limited by walls and thick glasses. In this restricted environment, a natural born killer a leader who listens to the name Malamadre, a cynical and violent prisoner, with eyes that shine and alert at all times pays attention on our hero. These are the two poles of the story.

Daniel Monzon signed the interesting drama Cell 211. He managed to create a sophisticated atmosphere and raise the heat. He offers a powerful social film with incredible moments of tension, which are not easily forgotten...

Director : Peter Jackson
Starring: Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weisz, Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci, Saoirse Ronan
Genre: Drama

It’s a great film book adapted from Alice Sebold's best-seller, The Lovely Bones. I haven't read Sebold's novel so walking in, I wasn't sure what I was going to see. Susie Salmon is a fourteen-year-old girl, an average teenager who is madly in love with the boy of her dreams. She is dreaming of him, she is longing to meet him on their first date and experience her first ever love kiss but…she gets murdered on the way home from school by her creepy and inconspicuous neighbor mr Harvey . Only she’s not ready to die, instead loitering around the gateway to the afterlife and peering back over her shoulder as the murder investigation unfurls below. Rachel Weisz and Mark Wahlberg play Suzie's parents. They react very different to her death. The younger Salmon sister got probably the trickiest role in the film. She's responsible for solving the mystery of Susie’s murder. This movie was really touching it deals with loss, revenge, desperation, rage, suspense and love.
It is one of the best movies of the year. After all it is an oscar award winner. Go and watch it!

Iron Man 2

Iron Man 2

Director: Jon Favreau
Genre: Action Adventure Sci-Fi Thriller
Cast: Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Paltro,Sam Rockwell,Mickey Rourke,Samuel L. Jackson,Clark Gregg,John Slattery,Jon Favreau,Paul Bettany

Marvel Studios + Robert Downing Jr + Popcorn = $133.6 million in debut weekend!

Iron Man was released in 2008. It was huge! I understood then that “Heroes Aren't Born, They're built”! So after watching the trailer of the sequel on utube I wanted desperately to find out what happened to those heroes after 2 years…
So I got my ticket, waited on the line and watched this blog buster. What I understood is that if you go to watch it armed with the knowledge that you are going to watch a comicbook movie sequel the experience will be more enjoyable. It isn't as much fun as its predecessor but the cast is incredibly talented, kick-ass was high although some might think it should be higher and there are some great ironman battle scenes like the ending battle with Whiplash witch was stunning. Even if the movie has some faults you will probably be blinded by all the awesome Marvelly goodness, and be bonkers over it anyway. If you like comic books and comic book movies, you're going to love Iron Man 2!

Plot:
Billionaire Tony Stark must contend with deadly issues involving the government, his own friends, as well as new enemies due to his superhero alter ego Iron Man….

I love watching movies… almost every type..
It’s my passion.
I watch movies Alone, with my family, with my friends or with a hundred strangers in a theatre.
Sometimes I laugh, sometimes I cry, sometimes I get inspired or sometimes I get so bored I could die in front of the screen in the darkness of the theatre.
I watch Hollywood blogbasters or European films just as pleasantly.
I spend a lot of money, energy and time doing that.
A movie may be an answer to every problem.
How to Have a Successful First Date? It’s simple…Go at the Movies!
You have trouble sleeping ? Watch a movie ( if it’s a stupid one it’s even better)
You had a fight with your partner and don’t even want to look at him/her? That’s right watch a movie!
But what I have discovered about my movie watching is that when i share my experiences, the pleasure is double.
